About Printz Board

Creativity never rests and neither does Printz Board. Distinguished as not only an award-winning artist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, but an entrepreneur, curator, and film and television creator. Over the past two decades, he has garnered two GRAMMY® and multiple BMI® Songwriter Awards, while securing yet another #1 slot with a BTS record in 2020. Beyond working with artists ranging from Selena Gomez to Sheryl Crow, to Justin Timberlake and John Legend, he has collaborated with the Obama Family, Andra Day, and luxury car brand Hyundai Genesis, the LA Lakers, Pepsi and more. Propelling his artistic legacy, he launched 2526 Studios as a full-fledged film, tv, and music production facility, and overall creative hive, and he also co-created the series Flimsy at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the moniker of Parker Lane, he continues to progress musically with the folk-infused project’s full-length album and short film, Kaleidoscope, and much more to come.

“No matter what I’m doing, the main thread is honesty,” he states. “Everything I’m saying, playing, writing, and producing is authentic. It’s not about making money or chasing fame; it’s about following my heart, connecting to humanity, and uplifting people together. I want to make audiences feel good and give you memories that last forever across all of my creative endeavors with all of the things I do.”

Though he is a multifaceted artist, his journey began with music….

Although he is known as a multifaceted artist, his journey began with music as a kid in Ohio, cooking up beats, and playing the organ and trumpet.

As a kid in Ohio, he cooked up beats, played organ, and eventually excelled at trumpet. After relocating to Southern California, he emerged as a trusted creative partner to some of the world’s biggest stars. His discography as a co-writer and producer notably includes Black Eyed Peas’ “Where Is The Love?,” “My Humps”, and “Meet Me Halfway” as well as compositions for Mark Ronson, DJ Mustard, Macy Gray, Fergie, and many more. Adding to his global repertoire, he produced New Zealand stadium juggernauts SIX60, and also picked up a TUI Award—the New Zealand equivalent of a GRAMMY®—for “Feel Inside And Stuff” from Flight of The Conchords. As a live presence, he has accompanied both Macy Gray and Cee Lo Green on the road. Produced by the Obamas and the Chicago Sun, he scored the 2017 PSA entitled 31 Bullets: A Chicago Sun-Times Campaign to End Gun Violence, which gathered 16 award nods at Advertising Week of the Cannes Film Festival and received two Lions Awards. Among other collaborations, he penned a new theme song for the Lakers ‘21-22 season in collaboration with Pepsi. At the same time, he leads the multi-genre collective Flight of Voices, captivating intimate audiences with performances at unpredictable locations.

Throughout 2021, he established a foothold in the world of film and television. Alongside Keilani Rose, he co-created, co-wrote, scored, and appeared in Flimsy, which tells one story with 13 actors across five countries. Additionally, he opened up his facility 2526 STUDIOS as a hub for various projects, introducing it via livestreams with the likes of Chanel and more.

Along the way, he crafted what would become Kaleidoscope. Featuring his production, vocals, creative direction, and a short film he conceptualized, it brings everything together for Printz. Staring out at the mountains from behind a piano in a Vancouver rental house on a writing retreat, he experienced a revelation.

“Parker Lane changed my life,” he explains. “It made me identify  my true self. Before, I felt like I was only about 60% of myself. It’s the same thing that happened to me when I went to Burning Man for the first time. I realized it was okay to be me, and Parker Lane does that for me musically.”

He co-produced Kaleidoscope with Ryan Hadlock [The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile, Vance Joy] and honed a sound informed by classic Americana traditions, yet uplifted by 21st century pop boundlessness. He opted to record everything live-from the drums to the piano and envisioned a short film to bring the lyrics to life.

“It’s the story of how I’ve felt over the past ten years,” he explains. “It’s the confusion, darkness, and ultimately rebirth of my inner child. During COVID, my soul opened up. I learned so much about who I am. Personally, my mom is my Kaleidoscope. She was 13 when she got pregnant with me. She didn’t look at it as a failure, but as an opportunity. We had nothing, but she moved to California and made me believe I can do anything.”

This spirit courses through tracks like “Brave” where soft acoustic guitar gives way to boisterous handclaps and a triumphant trumpet solo. It culminates in a chant of, “If there’s anything that I will say, just be brave, just be brave today.”

“Lyrically, it’s meant to be inspirational,” he states. “When you get knocked down, get back up, try new things, and plant a seed where no one else has ever planted a seed.”

On the other end of the spectrum, sparse piano echoes between his fluttering vocals on the confessional “How You Feel.”

“I was thinking of a situation where you’re dating someone and you cheat,” he reveals. “Afterwards, you feel like, ‘Oh my God, this was terrible. What I’ve got is amazing’. You go back to your partner and show them what you’ve learned.”

Board ultimately never stops evolving though. With Parker Lane as his north star right now, he continues to unveil every side of his creativity.

“Some people know me as a producer, trumpet player, or musical director, but it’s time to really show them everything else,” he says. “I’m an artist who also directs, writes, and produces. It’s all me.”
